Going the Extra Mile

Paul’s father was in the oil industry and Paul had the opportunity to grow up all over the world. While most children his age were playing baseball or reading comic books, Paul would spend his time riding horses around the Giza Pyramids in Egypt, exploring the Venezuelan jungle or playing war games in Lebanon. Needless to say, Paul’s childhood was far from ordinary. These priceless experiences taught him to appreciate people from all walks of life.

Judy, on the other hand, grew up in a much more traditional environment. She was instilled with a strong work ethic and had a natural ability of caring for others. In 2007, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but instead of feeling sorry for herself, Judy took the news in stride. She jokes that she wouldn’t “let a little thing like cancer get her down.” Motivated and supported by Paul and her two grandchildren, Judy fought and fortunately beat her cancer. This pivotal lesson taught Paul and Judy that as long as they have each other, anything is possible.
